I hear you--images online can entice predators. But I also hear the loud voices of friends and family who want to see updates as simple as bookmarking and clicking a page. My uploading of regular images increases my parental responsibility. It is an added concern, one that involves knowing how to execute barring orders and how to monitor online leeches.
I probably wouldn't be as cavalier as I appear with photos shot of infants but I've some experience as a member of a personal protection cadre and I'm still alert to ways to safeguard people. I just hope I'm not creating an easy target.
I'm not disagreeing with that principle. But there comes a time when everybody has to accept and manage the issues surrounding a public appearance or a public face. We're being careful and vigilant.
my daughter was recorded on audio (heartbeat) whilst in the womb and there was barely a day that went by that we didnt record her on video or photos - thrilled we have them. Most of them are on the web because of family traveling - baby 2.0 arrives hopefully sometime end of Jan 08. and so the process starts again this has got to be the most documented generation I wonder in 5 or 10 years what it will look like - Bernie I said it before she's a ringer for you - same expression - its wonderful.
And imagine what it will be like for future historians. How I'd love to be able to flick through countless colour photos of my grandparents and great-grandparents as they were growing up. Not to mind video, audio and detailed journals (blogs).
I sometimes wonder if future generation will feel an entirely different connection with the past. For us it's largely word of mouth and the odd grainy photo. But we have to imagine what our ancestors sounded like, moved like, thought like. I find it mind boggling to think that my great-great-great-great..... -great grandkids will know so much more about me than I know about my grandparents.
I believe lifestreams are touchable and essential elements of mass communications. By folding my daughters' lifestreams into my own, I hope my web presence outlives me.
phew, a pretty heavy thought topgold! (but love that photo of her smiling!) We all have to be careful with photo's but we cannot leave thugs rule, its akin to not going into town on a Saturday night because their could be trouble.

I'm getting more unsolicited suggestions to enhance her online presentation than anything I have ever uploaded. It's truly a labour of love.

I'm still reluctant to put any images of my kids online...

It's probably another one of the many responsibilities of a parent. I would have no problem uploading to a non-public space though...

@EirePreneur - sage words. I often think how lo-fi our connection with the past is.
